The first suppressors, and many to this day, utilize a threaded barrel-to-device connection. Knight's developed and fielded a much faster and easier system of connection which evolved into the Gate Latch. This system was first fielded on the M4QDSS and now the NT4 and M110/SR-25 suppressors. The suppressor slips over a compatible barrel (without flash hider) and the twin post latch, or gate, slides down into fitted grooves on the muzzle device. The gate latches down and a locking ring is twisted into place for a secure fit that maintains its connection even through high cyclic firing rates. This system allows for quick attachment and detachment without sacrificing a secure fit.
